We Have Been Created To Love and Be Loved

Humans are social creatures, we hang around each other, paying attention to what each other is up to. We touch, we play, we communicate, we share. We know how to have fun.

We love.

I have been thinking of this lately. And then, today, I read this quotation by Mother Theresa and said “Yes!” out loud.

we have been created to love and be loved mother theresa quote

We have been created to love…

“Each time anyone comes into contact with us, they must become different and be better people because of having met us. We must radiate God’s love. We must know that we have been created for greater things, not just to be a number in the world, not just to go for diplomas and degrees, this work and that work. We have been created in order to love and be loved.

Love does not measure…it just gives.”

Reinvent Yourself, Reclaim Your Soul

I have two announcements today. One is obvious! A new blog design featuring “Flirting” By Flora Bowley. I hope you all like it. I feel like it is simpler and more “me.” I learned through this process not to fix what isn’t broken. I almost threw the baby out with the bathwater. Once a name is associated with you, it is hard to change. “Heal Now” has become an extension of me and I decided to keep it.

Never fear, those of you who liked “Heal Here.” It will feature as a tagline in my counseling practice, as I move to blend my counseling practice with my blog identity.

A Thank You To Me

Flora Bowley Temple Lillies

Flora Bowley Temple Lillies

I thank you so much for reading here every week. If you feel like thanking me, I would welcome you to do me a huge favor.

I have been planning to improve my site for a while and looking for some artwork that can speak for me before making changes. I found that in Flora Bowley. On Monday, you fell in love with her, too.

In addition to visual changes, my plan is to improve my title and tag lines. This is a BIG decision and I will benefit from help making it. And so I am asking you all. (My own personal focus group.)

Get Your Priorities Straight: Guest Blog on lisawrosenberg.com

Having trouble sorting out your priorities?

So excited to be asked to write an article on my blog buddy Lisa Rosenberg’s Blog Writings on Body Image and Identity. Lisa and I are kindred spirits, being the two therapists among all our mutli-professional bloggy friends. Lisa writes about body image and eating disorders after having survived an eating disorder as a ballerina when she was younger. I have enjoyed following Lisa’s blog as she is candid and honest. She gets down and personal allowing us a realistic view of her and her family life. I especially love how she parents with compassion (read How I Survived My Daughter’s First Week of Middle School). Also, it has been great doing the Race 2012 project together. Here is a link to Lisa’s Montclair, New Jersey therapy practice. She is so cool, I cannot wait to meet in realsies.

Here is a sneak peak of the blog post… if you likey, head over to Get Your Priorities Straight on Lisa’s blog, finish reading and leave some comment love for her.

Being Yourself, Being Your Self

Did you ever say, “I don’t even know who I am”?

What does this mean when we say this?  Do we only have one identity? And our life goal is to find it? As if when we feel this way, whichever way we thought before we must have been wrong about.

I don’t think so.

Thank You Universe!

Today I feel thankful and want to say, “Thank you Universe!”

Recently my daughter has been intrigued by the song Thank You by Alanis Morrisette. She asked me line by line what the lyrics meant Why India? What’s frailty?…

Boundaries, Barriers, and Limits, Oh My!

It is fun to talk about boundaries!

Every Wednesday folks ask questions on Facebook Heal Now and Forever Be In Peace which I answer in my blog on Thursday.

This week each question was about setting and or respecting boundaries. Check them out:

Do we need to set boundaries in our relationships? How do we do it and why? Isn’t that a limitation to love? How do we know we are not crossing someone’s boundaries?

Hi Jodi, I’m wondering how you organize your schedule to choose and make time for the many things you do. I have so many interests and commitments, how can I effectively manage and prioritize them all? I like structure, but I also like having room for choices. Continue Reading →

Remembering How to Really Love

Grandpa's eulogy: Anthony Julian. Remembering how to really love

Isn’t he the cutest?

This is an excerp from the eulogy I wrote for my grandfather who died a few years ago.  It is his birthday on May 8th. He taught us so much about love. This is a long post which I tried to edit, but it was too difficult to delete much–he meant so much to me. This post is dedicated to him.  Continue Reading →
